CoTweet Is your Team’s CoPilot
Charles Eidschun
One of the benefits of using Twitter for business is the ability to build a direct connection to your customers and engage in real-time discussions with them. Twitter can be used for feedback, support, brand building, product announcements and a myriad of other communication purposes that can benefit both your business and your customers.
Many of the businesses that have been trailblazers on Twitter have struggled with one challenge: How do you organize all of this activity when you have multiple staff members charged with updating Twitter across one or even multiple accounts? Many businesses have separate Twitter accounts for sales, customer service and company news.
One great solution is CoTweet. CoTweet is a new service that is being used by a handful of enterprise organizations, such as Starbucks, JetBlue, Ford and Microsoft, to manage their brand presence on Twitter.

CoTweet allows multiple Twitter accounts to be managed easily from a single location. There are features for adding staff members to the master account and assigning Twitter duties to them based on a schedule. Each member will receive email alerts whenever there is an activity that requires a response while they are “on duty.” There are also navigation links to see all actions assigned to them as well as an outbox containing sent and scheduled tweets. All of this activity is tracked within CoTweet, making organization simple and intuitive.
Twitter search is integrated into the application, allowing you to search for conversations as well as Tweeple you may wish to follow. When you find profiles of interest, you can follow/unfollow them from within CoTweet.
When you first log in to CoTweet, you are greeted with a view of all messages on your account(s). The list includes all replies, retweets and direct messages. From this list, you have several message options: direct message, reply, retweet, email tweet, view tweet and archive. You can also click on the username of the sender and view their profile in a collapsible sidebar. Beyond the ability to view the profiles, you can also see conversations and updates and make notes for each.
The application has a very intuitive feel throughout and should only take a matter of minutes for any Twitter user to become accustomed to. This looks to be a great tool for corporate tweeting and managing brand presence on Twitter. It is currently free to sign up. There will likely be a charge in the future, but the developers of CoTweet suggest that it is unlikely to be large.
